Tom’s River, NJ – St. Stephen Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1344 White Oak Bottom Road, will hold the Annual Ukrainian Festival on August 22 from noon to 7 p.m. There will be Ukrainian food and beverages, live music, dancing, vendors, a 50/50 drawing and a raffle for the Bermuda Cruise. “UCCA-IL presents ‘Ukrainian Days Festival 2009’”
Smith Park located at the 2526 West Grand Avenue and Campbell in Chicago, IL
The Ukrainian Congress Committee of America, Illinois Division presents “Ukrainian Days Festival 2009” from noon to 10 pm on Saturday and Sunday. This is the largest Ukrainian Festival in the Mid-West. Festivities include Ukrainian food, crafts, music, dancing and much more. Pony rides and children’s attractions add to the entertainment for the whole family, plus local performers and performers from abroad. Performances by Chicago’s Hromovytsia and CYM’s Ukrainia dance groups will take place.

Celebration of Ukraine’s Declaration of Independence will begin on Sunday at 1:30 pm. For more information call 773-772-4500. Suggested minimum entrance donation is $5 per person.

Somerset, NJ – The Brotherhood of St Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Church in South Bound Brook, NJ and UNWLA Branch # 125 in New York City invite you to a concert celebrating the 18th anniversary of Ukrainian independence.
The concert will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2009, at The Ukrainian Cultural Center, 135 Davidson Ave, Somerset, NJ.
The concert will start at 2:30PM; the buffet will open at 2:00PM.
The concert program includes Rostyslav Vasylenko, Erko Palydowycz, Odarka Polanskyj (harpist), and the musical groups “Barvinok” and “Nadiya”. Singers are Ludmila Hrabovska, Anna Bachynska, Alla Kutsevych and others. Also participating is the musical group “Chetverta Hvilya”.

Saskatchewan’s only outdoor Ukrainian Festival takes place annually on the 4th Saturday in August in Kiwanis Park on the river bank next to Saskatoon’s landmark Delta Bessborough Hotel.

From noon onward activities will continue in the traditional manner south of the hotel. Featured are the all-day stage show, beer garden, Ukrainian food, children’s activities, cultural displays, and a giant balloon launch. All these components provide an enjoyable family experience,

Patrons relax in the beer garden, or on the lawn, in the shade of huge elm trees where every seat accords an excellent view of the performers on stage with the jade-coloured water of the South Saskatchewan gently flowing by in the background.

Kyiv, Ukraine – Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko will address the Ukrainian people on the Independence Day, August 24, president’s spokeswoman Iryna Vannykova has said.

“On the Independence Day, the prayer for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people will be held in the Saint Sophia Cathedral with the participation of the head of state and top officials and community leaders. A military parade along Khreschatyk Street will follow and the president will make an address to the Ukrainian people,” Vannykova said at a briefing in Kyiv on Monday.
